The Supreme Court has loosened certain restrictions on fundraising activities by judges. A divided 4-3 court adopted changes put forth by the Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee that maintain the current Florida Code of Judicial Conduct prohibitions on direct solicitation of funds by judges, but carves out a limited exception for judges' participation in certain fundraising activities. (Case No. SC07-1135.)
